Roofing Shingles

Is it time for a new roof? Here are a few signs that it's time to replace your roof:

Algae Shingles
Have you noticed dark, "dirty-looking" areas on your roof? Possible causes are environmental pollutants, vegetation, fungus, algae, or even loss of granules due to age of shingles.

Curling Shingles
Are you missing shingles? Have they started to crack or curl? Then your shingles may have reached the end of their useful life.

Decaying Shingles
Is your siding or roof shingles decaying? You may have poor ventilation in your attic that is destroying your roof.

Stained Walls
Do your interior ceilings and walls have stains or mold and mildew growth? You may have inadequate or faulty shingle underlayment that is allowing leakage or inadequate ventilation.

Leakage from Weather
Does your attic have leakage after heavy, wind-driven rain or snow? Leaky or inadequate shingle underlayment or deteriorated flashing allows water to leak into attic.

Poor Ventilation
Are your energy cost excessive due to poor ventilation? If you have insufficient attic ventilation, your heating/cooling system may run excessively. In warm weather, inadequate ventilation will trap hot air in the attic, causing air conditioning systems to work harder, or leaving your home's interior hotter and less comfortable. Attic Ventilation: Insufficient attic ventilation may cause moisture in the attic to become trapped and condense on the rafters. This condensed moisture can drip down onto the insulation and reduce its effectiveness.
